Tift Research Lab &
UNCW Comparative Physiology Laboratory

Lab Research Focus

The primary focus of our research is to understand more about physiological adaptations in wild populations that allow individuals to survive and thrive in extreme conditions. We focus mainly on animal and human populations that can tolerate hypoxia or ischemia. We strive to integrate the knowledge we gain from studying these unique systems to advance our understanding of the physiology and health of both human and animal populations.
